What to upload for permit help
You do not need a perfect file. Start with the notice, screenshot, photo, permit record, message, or brief description that best shows the issue.
Start with the item that raised the concern
The best document is usually the one that made you stop and wonder what to do next.
That may be a notice from DPP, a status in HNL Build, an inspection note, a correction comment, a permit record, a red tag photo, or a message from escrow, a lender, a realtor, a buyer, an appraiser, or a contractor.
If you do not have a file, briefly describe what happened.
Common items homeowners upload
- DPP notice or letter
- HNL Build screenshot
- correction comments

- inspection note
- permit record

- red tag photo
- property photos
- old drawings or permit documents
- escrow or realtor message

- brief written description of what happened
Photos are okay
A clear phone photo is usually enough to start.
You can take a photo of a paper notice, red tag, inspection note, work area, old drawing, or anything else related to the issue. The photo does not need to be perfect. It just needs to be readable.
Screenshots are okay too
If the issue is in HNL Build or another online record, take a screenshot.
Try to include the permit number, status, comments, tasks, messages, or anything that looks important.
If you are not sure which screen matters, upload the clearest screenshot you have.
If you do not have a file
You can still start.
Briefly describe what happened. Include the property address, permit number, TMK, deadline, or DPP case number if you have it.
You do not need all of that information before asking for help. It just helps if it is available.
Different issues may need different documents
Some permit problems need different records, photos, or screenshots.
If your issue involves shoreline property, an older home, a large home, zoning, floor area, historic review, inspection issues, plan check comments, or DPP correction notices, include any DPP message, property record, plan sheet, photo, or notice that mentions those items.
Only upload what you want reviewed
Documents, photos, screenshots, and messages may include personal or property information.
Only upload information you want reviewed for the purpose of helping identify what the permit issue appears to involve and what may need to happen next.
